Table 3-1 DHCP Ethernet Setup Menu Fields
FIELD DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE
DHCP This field enables/disables the DHCP server.
If set to Server, your ZyWALL will act as a DHCP server.
If set to None, the DHCP server will be disabled.
If set to Relay, the ZyWALL acts as a surrogate DHCP server and relays
requests and responses between the remote server and the clients.
When set to Server, the following four items need to be set:

Configuration
Client IP Pool
Starting Address
This field specifies the first of the contiguous addresses in the IP address
pool.

Size of Client IP
Pool
This field specifies the size, or count of the IP address pool. 32
Primary DNS
Server
Secondary DNS
Server
Type in the IP addresses of the DNS servers. The DNS servers are passed
to the DHCP clients along with the IP address and the subnet mask.
DHCP Server
Address
If Relay is selected in the DHCP field above, then type in the IP address of
the actual, remote DHCP server here.
Follow the instructions in the following table to configure TCP/IP parameters for the LAN port.

IP Address Enter the IP address of your ZyWALL in dotted decimal notation 192.168.1.1

IP Subnet Mask Your ZyWALL will automatically calculate the subnet mask based on
the IP address that you assign. Unless you are implementing
subnetting, use the subnet mask computed by the ZyWALL
255.255.255.0
RIP Direction
Press the [SPACE BAR] to select the RIP direction from Both, In
Only, Out Only or None.
Both
(default)
Version
Press the [SPACE BAR] to select the RIP version from RIP-1/RIP-
2B/RIP-2M.
