LAN Setup
This chapter describes how to configure LAN settings.
6.1 LAN Overview
A Local Area Network (LAN) is a shared communication system to which many computers
are attached. A LAN is a computer network limited to the immediate area, usually the same
building or floor of a building. The LAN screens can help you configure a LAN DHCP server
and manage IP addresses.
See Section 6.3 on page 98 to configure the LAN screens.
6.1.1 LANs, WANs and the ZyXEL device
The actual physical connection determines whether the ZyXEL device ports are LAN or WAN
ports. There are two separate IP networks, one inside the LAN network and the other outside
the WAN network as shown next.
